An archaeologist’s job of is not only to dig up what was left behind, but to learn about life in the past. Through Dig the Past’s Biblical market activities, Biblical times are no longer an ancient fairytale, but come to life through real people and daily activities. Children learn as they smell, touch and use the tools and materials as they were used thousands of years ago.
The activities include a number of stalls simulating a Biblical market. The participants receive costumes and “ancient” money, which they must spend at the market. While doing so they are exposed, through activities at the various stations and the interaction with the merchants, to the Biblical way of life, as well as to ancient technologies and mindsets.
The Biblical Market program can be run as a follow-up program, following a Dig the Past excavation program, or can be run independently.
